special valentines flowers - TV show ends Midlothian man’s unemployment

Like millions of other Americans, David Faulkner has been unemployed a long time.

After he earned his associate’s degree in recreational therapy from Moraine Valley Community College in May 2010, he began his search.special valentines flowers

He sent out 150 resumes in 18 months, landed “maybe 20 to 25 interviews” and received nary one job offer.

“It’s extremely frustrating because you go on interviews and you think that you’re doing it right. Honestly, I never knew what I was doing wrong,” said Faulkner, 25, of Midlothian.

He hoped to work at a retirement home or assisted living center for seniors.

Prospective employers “try to put up a good front (but) you never know exactly how it went,” he said.

“It was very frustrating to send out applications and emails and never hear back or to send resumes and never hear back or to get an interview and they’ll say, ‘We’ll call in two weeks,’ and they never do or to get the bad news and they say, ‘We’ve found someone more experienced,’” he said.

But Faulkner’s frustration is over now thanks to “the best Christmas gift.”

Five days before Christmas, while sitting in the audience of “Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers,” a TV show on the CW Network, Faulkner was hired to work fielding .

His mother, Kathy Faulkner, had learned that the TV show was trying to find jobs for people and urged him to apply.

“I thought this would be the perfect job for me,” he said, noting vision problems preclude his being able to get a driver’s license.

His first interview went well.

“One of the things they asked was, ‘If you were hired, would you be willing to go on ‘Dr. Drew’s Lifechangers’ and tell your story?’ I said, ‘Absolutely,’ ” Faulkner recalled.

A second job interview followed on Nov. 30.

“I was very excited because I’d never had a second interview in my life. We went through the various questions and they asked about the TV show again,” he said.

On Dec. 12,  invited him to attend a Dec. 20 taping of the show. His trip was paid for , a harbinger of things to come.

Before the show, audience members were asked if they were willing to be interviewed by Dr. Drew Pinsky. Only Faulkner raised his hand.

He did not get that chance. But during the taping, a company representative walked toward the audience, pointing to people and saying, “You’re hired, you’re hired,” Faulkner said.

“I was shaking. I couldn’t believe it,” he said.

“Being interviewed would’ve been nice,” Faulkner said, “but getting the job was most important.”

The job requires him to be available 11 hours a day, five days a week.

“It is a lot of hours, but I’ll take it,” he said.

He’s not getting rich at 10 bucks an hour, but he has what so many do not: A job. And, frankly, he likes the idea of working at home.

“For Christmas, I got a pair of pajamas I plan to wear for my first day of training and my first day on the job,” he said with a smile.

Training begins in mid-January. He’ll be on duty in time for Valentine’s Day.

“Even though I’m not working in my field, I’ll still be making a difference, they want something special. I’ve used it myself. Whatever field I’m in, I want to treat people with the same treatment I’d want my mom to get. I want to end the call with them being happy, satisfied and taken care of,” he said.

He still hopes to work in his field one day.

“My passion is working with seniors. I feel I work very well with seniors. I’ve developed a good rapport with many in this church. They’re really good people, they’re really fun and I also think they tell the best stories, honestly,” said Faulkner, who attends Pilgrim Faith United Church of Christ in Oak Lawn.

A spokesman  said Faulkner is the kind of person the company needs.

“We participated (in the TV show) because it was a great opportunity to expand our home agent network, people who can work at home. We’ve found our home agents are very diligent and have high incentives to do a really good job,” said Joe Pititto, vice president of investor relations and corporate communications.

“David made a very positive impression on Maureen Paradine, our senior vice president of human relations, who appeared on the Dr. Drew show, and we are looking forward to having David become part of the family. We’re in the business of delivering smiles, and we want people who are happy in their work. We’re thrilled to have him on board.”

special valentines flowers - The time is just right!

For most people, New Year marks the beginning of a new calendar and is all about new hopes and dreams. Every New Year, people like to plan the rest of the year.special valentines flowers

Many like to make new resolutions to enrich their lives. The calculation is simple— if you start a new thing at the beginning of a year, you will have a clear idea of what you have achieved by the end of it.

“People want to start new things on days of special significance like Valentine’s Day, Christmas or Deepavali. New Year is also one such occasion when people want to pay attention to important things like marriage, buying a new vehicle, house etc,” says Ganesh S, a professional special valentines flowers.

Shubha N H, a professional who is entering wedlock this season, agrees that beginning a new life at the start of a new year means a lot to her.

“Every year, I do something special on New Year’s eve. But this year, the celebrations are doubled as my engagement and wedding are going to happen soon. When a wedding happens in the beginning of a year, that whole year remains special throughout our lives,” she says.

This year, her resolutions and expectations too have undergone a major transformation. “Now I have started thinking about my husband and me rather than just myself. I see both of us as one family. By the end of 2012, I hope we will understand each other well and make a good family,” she hopes.

Alisha Chinappa, a financial analyst, got married in mid-December and says there are a lot of advantages about getting married in December.

“First of all, my company is closed during Christmas and I can save my leaves. Moreover, we can use our leftover leaves which otherwise would have been wasted because of marriage.
Even travel agencies offer a lot of package trips during this time and we can go to some of the most happening places to celebrate New Year post marriage.Since marriage is the most important event in one’s life, it becomes more memorable when it falls on special days. Even for the others, it becomes easy to remember our anniversary. So we can get a lot of anniversary wishes every year,” she says.

She also says that this time due to the non-availability of a good muhurtam, many of her friends had to postpone their weddings. “I am lucky in that sense. My friends who wanted to have their wedding during this season didn’t get a suitable date as this is not an auspicious month. So they are holding it during Makara Sankranti which is also a special occasion,” she says.

Special Valentines Flowers - Zhang, Bale blossom together on 'Flowers of War'

By Jordan Riefe LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - In 100 years of Chinese film special valentines flowers, 'The Flowers of War' is the first major title to feature a western movie star. It earned a Golden Globe nomination for best foreign language film, and is Chinas entry for Oscars. Budgeted at $100 million, 'Flowers of War' stars Oscar-winner Christian Bale as John Miller, an opportunist mortician on the run in 1937 as the Japanese are invading the province of Nanking, now known as Nanjing. The Japanese occupation led to the deaths of thousands of Chinese citizens and came to be known by some as the Rape of Nanking or the Nanjing Massacre. In the film, which has a limited U.S. release this week before opening nationwide in 2012, Bales character must save a group of schoolgirls from the clutches of the Japanese. At the same time, he falls in love with a Chinese courtesan. Bale and Chinese director Zhang Yimou, who communicated through an interpreter while making the film, talked with Reuters about overcoming cultural barriers and revisiting an infamous episode of Chinas past. (The interview took place before Bales recent run-in with Chinese officials.) Q: This is your first time working with a western film star. Did the collaboration meet or defy your expectations? Zhang: 'First, Im amazed at how low key and humble Christian is. The stereotype that Chinese have of Hollywood actors is they probably have an entourage and assistants. So thats definitely changed how I viewed Hollywood actors. And also Christian didnt want to stay in a five star hotel either. He lived right above me, lived with everybody else, with the crew members. And another thing is Christian gave up his weekends to work with us because we work seven days a week.' Bale: 'But this seven-day week schedule became something I quite enjoyed cause I liked the momentum. Yimou is top dog in his profession, and he genuinely seemed to have a great deal of humor and laughter on the set. I didnt always know what the laughter was about but I would laugh with them. I hope theyre not all laughing at me! I felt surrounded by good friends and even if I didnt understand nuances of what was being discussed, I got the essence in the presence of people.' Q: Do you find that your shared experience in filmmaking was enough to communicate despite the language barrier? Bale: 'There would be moments where Yimou would come to me and we would work it out between the two of us. And sometimes with a scene its very small adjustments that were being asked for and I could understand from body language. And I always was convinced Yimou spoke a little bit of English, more than he ever let onto. So wed experiment and see how it works out and sometimes it did and sometimes it didnt.' Q: How are Western actors different than Chinese? Zhang: 'Each line Christian offered three or four different ways, which is very unusual because Chinese actors normally cannot pull that off. Screening the film for a western audience I realized that the first one-third of the movie, audiences would laugh at Christians lines. That actually surprised me because when I wrote the script in Chinese, I didnt think that was humorous, but clearly Christian added other layers to it.' Q: I understand Zhang asked you to stand before the cast and give them acting tips but it proved awkward. Bale: 'I always think its bad to try to alter anybody elses experience. Apart from that, its not my job. Thats the directors job. And I love very much working with actors who either have no experience or very little experience. I like to try to avoid getting any technique into my acting because I feel like the more known an actor gets, you really have to be exceptional to maintain that feeling of freshness and vitality and enthusiasm instead of falling back on your usual tricks.' Q: Steven Spielberg recommended you for the part after working with you years ago on 'Empire of the Sun' when you were a child. Did working with kids on this movie take you back? Bale: 'Some of the girls would say to me, I would never want to act ever again in my life, this is it. And I would say to them, Thats what I said. Thats exactly what I said when I was your age. The thing that I liked so much was the freshness that they brought in terms of this is something new but theres no consideration of this being anything that they would continue with.' Q: The movie is set around an atrocity by the Japanese that rivals in brutality what the Nazis did in Europe.special valentines flowers, Why do you think the world hasnt held the Japanese accountable?
